This is a story recounting the time when pastor Jung Myeong Seok worried about the path of his life.

Pastor Jung Myeong Seok didn’t choose to become a pastor from the beginning. He thought about the various things he could do with his life. He worried about which path to take, and because he didn’t study much he assumed that he would simply farm in his hometown. He regularly worked in the field and found it very difficult.

Therefore, pastor Jung planned his version of the ideal world: to plant a lot of fruit trees so there would be fruit to pick and eat every season; raise livestock and eat them every season, as it is difficult to buy meat; build a nice house in Wolmyeongdong; and spend the rest of his life serving God.

He even planned out his life of faith too. He thought, “It is difficult for me to become a pastor, so I will become an elder in Seokmak church and spend the rest of my life in a satisfactory way.” He also planned to evangelise poor and hopeless people on the street, bring them to his farm, and work, eat and enjoy together with them.

They were the individual plans that pastor Jung made for his life; however, God’s plan for his life was far greater but also similar in various ways too. God’s plan was fulfilled through Pastor Jung developing the Holy Land according to God’s design. Ultimately, he decided to live the path of life according to God’s thoughts, and not his own plan.

Planting fruit trees was merely a physical plan, but planting spiritual fruit trees -farming of life and farming of faith- was a spiritual plan. God perfectly led pastor Jung onto the path of faith, the path that farms lives and doesn’t merely farm physical things that ultimately come to an end. God led Pastor Jung’s life according to His will. If pastor Jung’s wishes for his own life had come true, he would’ve thrown his life away after becoming so bored and unsatisfied.

정명석 목사가 자신의 진로에 대해 고민할 때의 이야기입니다.

정명석 목사도 처음부터 신앙의 길을 택한 것은 아니었고

여러 가지를 하려고 했습니다.
어느 쪽으로 갈 것인지 고민했으나 공부를 많이 못했으니

시골에서 농사를 짓자 생각하여 농사를 지어 보았지만

많이 힘들었습니다.

그래서 정명석 목사는 과일나무를 많이 심어놓고

계절마다 과일을 따먹고,

매번 고기를 사다 먹기는 힘드니 여러 동물을 길러

계절마다 먹을 수 있게 고기 농사도 짓고,

월명동에 집을 잘 지어놓고 여생을 하나님 섬기면서 보내는

그 나름대로 이상세계를 계획했습니다.

그리고 정명석 목사는 신앙에 관한 것도 계획을 세웠습니다.
신앙은 목사 사명까지는 힘드니 석막교회에서 장로까지 하여

만족한 생애를 보내자 생각하였습니다.
불쌍한 사람들을 거리에서 전도해 데려와서 같이 일하면서,

같이 먹고 즐기는 계획을 했습니다.

그 계획은 정명석 목사의 계획이었는데,

그와 비슷하게 하나님 계획대로 <역사>가 돼서 성지땅을 만들었습니다.

결국 정명석 목사 자신의 계획이 아니라

하나님의 생각대로 인생의 진로를  정했습니다.

 과일나무를 심으려 한 것은 육적인 것이고

영적인 과일나무 농사를 짓는 것은

신앙의 농사, 생명의 농사를 짓는 것으로

하나님은 정명석 목사가 일개 농부로서

끝나는 삶이 아닌 생명의 농사를 짓는 신앙의 길로

온전히 인도해주셨습니다.

그 뜻대로 하나님께서 해 주셨습니다.
정명석 목사 본인의 뜻대로, 소원대로 그렇게 이루어졌다면

지겨워서 버렸을 것입니다.
