There is something that I teach as I go out to cut down the bushes.

I teach the same thing even when I do it for the 100th times.

I say, “Look at this. Just as a tree dies because it was squeezed by a python, this big tree died because it was squeezed by arrowroots? Didn’t it?

All of you too will die if you are squeezed by Satans and weeds, so I can’t help but be anxious.

Let’s cut all of these with that thought.”

If you do it in this way, the tree will grow just as big as a pine tree grows later on.

The lawn was also filled with daisy fleabanes before.

Whether it’s a field or anything else, if it is filled with daisy fleabanes, then it will be ruined.

I remember that there were 50 people who came here to Wolmyeongdong and took photos in 1982.

At that time, you couldn’t even see a pine tree up on the hill.

I couldn’t see any because it was filled with daisy fleabanes.

I  I was able to spot a tree, but it was so small.

It grew that big only because time passed and because it was well managed.


We removed the bushes earlier, so the people who cut down the bushes might feel the satisfaction.

I told them to do it to make them feel “I need to utilize this place.”

I’m telling you that you need to utilize this great place.

They might have felt this as they were cutting bushes.

Even though the bushes were stretched around, when you pass by, that’s the end of it.

However, since this place is the sanctuary where [we] can lie down, sleep, play, and hear the Word, we can experience and feel the indescribable beauty even more.

And moreover, it even touches our heart.

내가 요즘 풀치러 다니면서 무엇을 가르치느냐면,

100번을 해도 그것을 가르칩니다.

“이것을 봐라. 능구렁이가 감듯이 큰 나무를 칡이 감으니 그냥 죽지 않느냐?

너희들도 사단에게 감기고, 잡초에게 감기면 죽는다.

그러면 안쓰러움을 금할 수 없다.

그것을 생각하면 과감하게 다 잘라 버리자” 합니다.

그렇게 해놓으면 나중에 가서는 나무가 큰 소나무가 크듯이 큽니다.



이 잔디밭도 전에는 망추대로 꽉 쩔었었습니다.

망추대가 쩔면 밭이고 무엇이고 망한다고 합니다.

82년에 50여명이 와서 여기서 사진 찍고 간 기억이 납니다.

그 때는 저 위의 소나무가 보이지도 않았습니다.

꽉 쩔어서 눈에 보이지 않았습니다.

슬쩍 보기는 보았는데, 조그맣게 보였었습니다.

오랜 시간이 흘러가기도 했지만, 관리해서 저렇게 큰 것입니다.


아까도 덤불을 쳤지만, 친 사람들은 보람을 느낄 것입니다.

‘여기에 와서 써먹어야겠구나’ 느끼라고 시킨 것입니다.

좋은 장소는 자꾸 써먹으라는 것입니다.

덤불 속을 치면서 느꼈을 것입니다.

그런 덤불은 그렇게 쳐 돌려놔도 슬쩍 한번 지나가면 그것으로 그만입니다.

그러나 여기는 눕고, 자고, 놀고, 말씀 듣는 성전이기에

그 아름다움은 이루 말할 수 없다고 체험하게 되고,

더욱 느끼게 됩니다.

그리고 가슴에 더욱 와 닿게 됩니다.
