This rock was in a stream next to a rice paddy in Seokmak-ri, and the villagers would often say that they would take it to use as a panel to make rice cakes.
It was polished repeatedly by the water so it became shiny and smooth.
When an excavator was paving a path in Wolmyeongdong, I told them to take the rock, so we brought it.
It looked like a monument of the Great King Gwanggaeto, so I named it Great King Gwanggaeto Rock.

석막리 논바닥 옆 개울물 속에 있던 것으로,
동네 사람들이 떡판 하러 가져간다고 하던 돌이다.
물에 닳고 닳아 반질거리고 매끄러웠다.
월명동에 포크레인이 길 닦을 때 선생이 가져가자 하여 옮겨왔다.
광개토대왕비와 비슷하다고 하여 광개토대왕바위라 이름지었다.
