When I built the rock garden in Wolyungdong, if I had thought of placing small-sized rocks, I would have sought and erected only small size rocks. Then the [Natural] Temple would have become a ‘little rock’ temple. On the contrary, I had a big vision and planned to set up big boulders. With that [idea], wherever I went, small rocks didn’t catch my eyes; I noticed only huge rocks and boulders. As I tried to move enormous stones, an excavator didn’t appeal to me. Instead, a crane caught my attention. In actuality, we set mammoth rocks, using a crane. You must think big in order to do things on a big scale and in large quantities.

Those who make up their minds to evangelize 10,000 in one year don’t even think about speaking to one person. [You] have to gather at least a few scores or a few hundreds of listeners and preach to them, thus converting dozens or hundred of people at once. When I evangelized 10,000* I preached to a crowd that, if large, was 300 or 700 people in one place, at times. Some other times, I would cry out to dozens of people at once. When my target was a single person, I had that person evangelize continually, just as I was doing.
When you do something on a big scale, the difference starts even from the planning stage.

If you planned to catch a mountain rabbit, you would first think to make or try to obtain a rabbit trap or net. A person who plans to capture a bear seeks to find a net, mesh, or a snare in order to catch a bear. A rabbit net or snare does not grab the attention of someone who desires to hunt deer. A person hoping to catch a rabbit doesn’t even think of a deer trap. First, a plan to catch a deer has to be made in order for the search for a deer net to begin. According to the plan, hope becomes big, the mentality differs and a big vision exists from the beginning of the action.

월명동 돌조경을 할 때도 마음에 작은 돌을 세울 것을 생각하고 했으면

작은 돌만 구해다 쌓았을 것입니다.

그러면 작은 돌 성전이 되었을 것입니다.

그러나 큰마음을 먹고 큰 돌을 쌓겠다고 생각했습니다.

그러니 어디를 가도 작은 돌은 안 보이고 큰 돌과 바위만 보였습니다.

큰 돌을 옮기려니 포크레인이 안 보이고 크레인이 보였습니다.

결국 크레인으로 큰 돌을 쌓았습니다.

크게 생각해야 크고 많이 하게 됩니다.

1년에 10000명 전도하려고 마음먹고 하는 자는 한 사람을 두고 외칠 것을 아예 생각하지 않습니다.

적어도 한 자리에 몇십 명, 몇백 명씩 모아 놓고 외쳐서 한 번에 몇십 명, 몇백 명이 믿게 해야 됩니다.

선생도 전에 1만 명씩 전도할 때 많을 때는 한자리에 700명, 300명을 모아 놓고 외쳤습니다.

때로는 몇십 명에게 외치기도 했습니다.

한 명씩 할 때는 그 사람도 전도를 해 나가게 했습니다.

크게 많이 하려면 계획부터 달리 세워집니다.

산토끼를 잡으려고 계획하면 생각부터 토끼를 잡을 그물이나 올무를 만들고 구하러 다닙니다.

곰을 잡으려고 하는 자는 곰을 잡을 그물이나 올무를 구하러 다닙니다.

노루를 잡으려고 마음먹은 자는 아예 토끼를 잡을 올무와 망이 안 보입니다.

토끼를 잡으려고 하면 아예 노루를 잡을 올무는 생각도 하지 않습니다.

노루를 잡으려고 해야 노루 잡을 올무를 구하러 다니게 됩니다.

그러면 희망도 크고, 정신도 다르고, 크게 마음먹고 하게 됩니다.
